Note: Please understand that this website is not affiliated with the Houbigant company in any way, it is only a reference page for collectors and those who have enjoyed the Houbigant fragrances.

The goal of this website is to show the present owners of the Houbigant company how much we miss the discontinued classics and hopefully, if they see that there is enough interest and demand, they will bring back the perfume!

Please leave a comment below (for example: of why you liked the perfume, describe the scent, time period or age you wore it, who gave it to you or what occasion, any specific memories), who knows, perhaps someone from the company might see it.

Alfred Javal

Emmanuel Javal (04/09/1811 to Obderdorff (Haut-Rhin) - 1860 in Paris).

Emmanuel, as shown in a cartoon, was a tailor. Emmanuel married in Fontainebleau in 1836 with the daughter of a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish community of this city: Moses Metzger. Moses Levy Brunette Metzger and were married in Fontainebleau in 1818 and Lucile was born there in 1819. Emmanuel and Lucile had two sons: Alfred Javal (1844-1912 or 1848-1921) and Albert 1847-1931).

  • Alfred Javal, eldest son of Emmanuel, was the owner of Parfums Houbigant as the Javal-Parquet, Perfumers, 19, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore in Paris. He married a Dreyfus then Rose Otterbourg and had Fernand, Andrée and Alice.
  • It seems that after the second world war Fernand Javal has attended Zionist circles, there met his great-aunt by marriage, Lily Jean-Javal.
