La Belle Saison by Houbigant: launched in 1924, created by Robert Bienaime.




Fragrance Composition:


So what does it smell like? It was classified as a spicy floral fragrance for women.
  • Top notes: citrus, spices, lily of the valley
  • Middle notes: rose, jasmine, carnations, ylang ylang
  • Base notes: ambergris, sandalwood, oakmoss, musk, patchouli, tonka bean


Asia: Journal of the American Asiatic Association, Volume 26, 1926:
"The Perfume of the season of beauty, the exquisite crystallization of summer's verdant charm the latest creation of Houbigant-La Belle Saison."

Vanity Fair, 1927:
"La Belle Saison— A luxurious perfume, rich with the odeur of exotic flowers — precious, piquant blossoms."

"LA BELLE SAISON," The gay holiday name of Houbigant's spicy blended odor. In a really lovely glass bottle designed by Lalique, and a green box. 2 oz $7.50."






Fate of the Fragrance:


Discontinued, date unknown. Still being sold in the 1940s.
